My First Mother’s Day

102Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mom’s out there! But especially to my mom because I wouldn’t be who I am today without her ♥
096This is my very first Mother’s Day and I must say it was nothing short of amazing. I woke up to a bunch of mothers day wishes from several of my facebook friends. Jacob completely surprised my mom and I by coming to our house in Lake City all the way from Jacksonville with flowers and cards for each of us. I was so happy to see him and to get the biggest bouquet of flowers EVER in my life! IMG_20130512_135333He gave my mom beautiful peach tulips that open during the day and close at night. We got dressed up a little bit and took some picture. My mom made a delicious shrimp sauce over white rice for our special dinner and I made cream cheese pull apart monkey bread or dessert. Also, we finally opened Jacobs beer cake and had a couple drinks. It was the first alcoholic beverage I’ve had in over a year which I’m proud to say, so a couple is all I needed. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to spend my first mother’s day. Especially because I didn’t expect anything on this holiday.

Excuse the “ghetto” baking dish. I had to improvise. (:

Pregnancy Post #16 – 35 Weeks

35 Weeks & 1 Day Pregnant
I was dressed up for my mom’s Birthday.

I have been working my pregnant butt off getting this nursery ready for Natalia since my last post! I had to take a break completely from my computer just so I could start getting things done at a timely pace; but it was a good, much needed break. I reorganized everything in her bedroom, clean and fully painted her entire dresser, plastered and sanded the walls, then taped the borders, painted that, and shampooed the carpet so it would be clean and fresh when baby girl gets here. I did so much work that I had to stop because my back was killing me! The most proud aspect about it is that all the hard work was done by me, 8 months pregnant, BY MYSELF. So I definitely have a lot to be proud of! Now all that there is left to do is reorganize the furniture once more, paint her night table to match the dresser, and put the crib and changing table together. That’s just the hard stuff though. I also have to wash all her clothes, towels and bedding, basically anything that will come in contact with her skin, put all that stuff away and organize her closet. I ordered some very cute zebra print handles and knobs to put on the dresser and night table a couple days ago, so I’m expecting those to come in the mail by next week. When I get those, I can put them on the dresser and night table and those items will be finished! I’m getting a little bit done every day and it should be fully completed within the next two weeks or even sooner if I keep up at this pace! I am very excited about how everything is turning out. The room looks absolutely GORGEOUS so far and I can’t wait for it to be done so I can take pictures of all my hard work.

Tattoo looks good! No stretch Marks (:

Still no doctor’s appointment since my last, but I go next week so I will have a medical update on my next post. (:

I’ve been getting some baby shopping supplies crossed off the baby needs list. I was even able to afford to get myself a matching outfit! I only shop for things on sale, with deals and coupons or just all around really good prices. You could call me cheap, but I like to think of myself as a smart shopper because I always try to make sure I get the most for my money, especially these days when that green stuff is so limited.

IMG_20130215_164122On Tuesday, I finally realized what this familiar pounding feeling was going on inside of me that occurred before but I couldn’t figure out what it was for the longest time. My daughter was having the hiccups and I even read that babies got hiccups inside the womb but never really payed attention to it. I didn’t even know what they felt like, if I could feel them at all. Well I definitely felt them Tuesday night while lying in bed. I just felt like this reoccurring beating sound in my belly that seemed to ‘loud’ to be a heartbeat; then I put two and two together. I had felt these before but did not know that Natalia was having hiccups. It was the cutest discover ever. I went to show my mom so she could feel them also and she laughed thinking it was the funniest thing ever. Mom also says that she can’t wait to hold this baby, she’s going to spoil her rotten, and in my head I’m like’Greattttttttt’, lol. No I’m just kidding. I know my mom is going to spoil her rotten and she is not the only one either. My little girl is going to be the happiest baby because she’s going to have nothing but love and affection around her all the time. I know I say it in every post, but it’s because it’s how I truly feel and I can’t help but to say it; I cannot wait to hold my daughter and have her here with me in my arms, holding her, cherishing her, caring for her, cuddling with her. This is going to be a very special and happy part of my life that I am totally ready for.

Mamãe Feliz Aniversário!

028265be3055dd9598b5ec7e5c4d53Today is my mom’s Birthday. She had some wonderful things to wake up to this morning! First, there was a beautifully hand-made card made by her 1st daughter, meeeee. Then, when she opened it there was a VERY nice surprise in it (now she can go get her nails done!). Lastly, she was greeted with a delicious red velvet cake saying “Happy Birthday Mom” that I bought for her because one, it’s her birthday, and two she has been saying how she has been craving something sweet, and frankly so have I.

She LOVED all her gifts and thanked me telling me how happy she was that I was in her life and she feels like the roles are switched, she’s the daughter and I’m the mom, lol! That woman is too funny. I enjoyed every single part about making this birthday special for my mom because she hasn’t had a special birthday in a long time. I even got all dressed up and pretty, curled my hair and did my make-up real nice to celebrate her big day. She appreciated everything I did for her. Tonight we are going to make brigadeiro’s, a delicious Brazilian candy made of dulce de leche and sprinkles, which is both of our favorite desserts. This will be her birthday activity that we get to spend time doing together. I will post about these on another time so I can add pictures and the recipe along with it. I love my mom with all my heart and I am really glad that I was able to do all these things for her to keep a big smile on her face. (:

Pregnancy Post #13 – 32 Weeks

Before I get started, this is just a friendly note for my readers: The purpose of my pregnancy posts is solely to express my thoughts about my pregnancy and to describe my productive daily activities. I understand that sometimes I write a whole lot, but that’s because I have a whole lot to talk about. I don’t expect anybody to read everything I write because it will probably bore some of you. I assume this because I personally don’t like to read any super loooooong post about somebody’s life that I don’t even know, although sometimes I find it interesting to read about how other people spend their days. So for anybody who gets bored of my forever long posts, I apologize. And for those of you who enjoy reading my posts, I’m glad you enjoy reading about the things I enjoy spending my days doing. So the following is another one of my long pregnancy posts about the things I’ve been doing since my last post, and I hope you enjoy it. (:

31 Weeks & 3 Days Pregnant.

31 Weeks & 3 Days Pregnant.

  • 32 Weeks and 2 Days Pregnant Today!
  • Gained a total of 30 pounds since pre-pregnancy.
  • Upcoming Events: Baby Shower on Saturday, Birthday on Sunday, Dr. Appt. on Tuesday.

For the past couple of weeks, something has completely come over me, and I think it is what most people refer to as “nesting”. I have all kinds of energy and tons ideas running through my head all day and night. I find myself excessively cleaning & cooking, writing more to do lists than usual, and finding all kinds of crafting ideas to keep me busy. I’m making a bunch of cute decorations and my own games for my baby shower. I have a folder of saved Pinterest pictures of ideas that I want to do for the baby’s nursery. I also have shopping lists of all kinds of crafts that I want to have around the house that I can work on when I have nothing to do! This past week I have become OBSESSED with Pinterest, pinning all kinds of cute things to make for Natalia and her bedroom, organizing her closet, redesigning her dresser, etc. I am so excited about all my new findings and even more excited that I have all kinds of things to spend my time doing. This is good because then I have all kinds of things to blog about! ;D

Pinterest Inspired Cable Organizers.

Pinterest Inspired Cable Organizers.

The ideas that I’m finding are so easy to make and take no time at all! For example, I found this adorable organization idea for all my loose wires that are jumbled up in drawers. I don’t know what half of them are for! You save all your cardboard toilet paper rolls, which I have MORE THAN ENOUGH of since I am constantly going to the bathroom! Then you wrap your wires in them and set them neatly in a box. It’s perfect! The only thing is, I thought that plain cardboard rolls were kind of ugly, so I decided to decorate mine. I found some hot pink duct tape that I bought a couple years ago for a high school project and taped my cardboard rolls up. Then I labeled them with a sharpie so I would know exactly what that wire is used for. Viola; pretty in pink organized wires. Super cute, super easy and super cheap! I also like the idea that I can recycle things that are usually thrown away.

As I’ve said before, I’ve been making countless lists of alllllll kinds of things ranging from to-do lists, to shopping lists, to idea’s lists, wish lists, etc. I really enjoy making to-do lists on the daily, and anybody who knows me will confirm this, because it keeps me busy, organized, and best of all, it helps me not to forget the things I need to do! I find my lists very helpful and I usually like to write them in different colored pens and doodle all over them to make them pretty. If you haven’t noticed already, I am a HUGE girly girl that loves all things pink and glittery. So I attempt to make everything of mine as so.

Anyways, back to my pregnancy notes, my baby shower is this Saturday and I am SO super excited about it!!! All my decorations have been delivered, and so has my dress. I have to mention that the dress looks absolutely FABULOUS on me! It’s pink and black to match the colors of my shower, and I have the perfect matching shoes to go with it. The decorations are perfect and can be re-used for future parties. My 20th birthday is on Sunday, but since I’m having the baby shower party, I’m not going to have a birthday party. It’s going to be kind of a birthday party and a baby shower, but I don’t want people to feel obligated to bring me baby presents and birthday presents, so it’s going to be labeled as strictly baby shower, lol. Because I’m making the baby shower such a huge production, I don’t really have any special plans for my birthday. After all, it’s just another year older and it’s not even a special number. So I think what I’m going to do is just get really dressed up, (pink & glittery!) go out to eat at a special restaurant and go shopping for some make-up supplies that have been on my wish list for the longest time. That sounds like the perfect birthday celebration for this momma this year! And then next year when I turn 21, I will have a fancy cocktail party! (;

Pregnancy Preparedness!

Pregnancy Preparedness!

My next doctor’s appointment is on Tuesday and my mother will be accompanying me to this one because the doctor is going to give me one last ultrasound to see where the baby is positioned. I already know where she’s positioned because I felt her turning in me and I can feel where her heartbeat is exactly when I feel my belly. I still have no additional stretch marks other than the 2 itsy bitsy teeny tiny ones right above my belly button, which would not even be there if I had waited to get it pierced! But I’m very fortunate to only have those and I’m not going to look negatively at them because I think they are the cutest little marks that represent Natalia’s kisses on my body. This is the joy of being young and pregnant! My advice to any woman as far as stretch marks is to drink lemonade or incorporate lemon in your diet in some way, shape or form. Lemon is proven to have many beneficiary factors including skin elasticity and you can look it up if you don’t believe me. I also advise that you moisturize EVERY SINGLE DAY before bed. I’ not going to lie, there were a few times when I forgot to moisturize, but for the most part I did a damn good job at making sure my belly stayed lotioned up! Now, every woman is different and this might not work for everybody, but it worked for me and let me just note that I am very fair-skinned which makes me more prone to stretch marks. But I am very proud of the way my body handled this pregnancy in every way so far.

Over all, I am an extremely happy mommy-to-be and I find myself thinking about Natalia being here in my arms more and more each day. I am enjoying my pregnancy and having all the free time in the world to do whatever I want. I’m spending most of my time preparing and making things for baby girl. I don’t have any crazy dreams, or crazy emotional spasms like most pregnant women complain about, I sleep fairly good except for getting up to pee in the middle of the night (I also can’t wait to be able to sleep on my stomach again). I can still bend over to paint my toenails, although not for very long. I’m enjoying reading and learning about the things that I can do and make that are all-natural and safe to use on my baby for when she gets here. Best of all, I am very fortunate and appreciative not to have to work while pregnant and still have income to get the things that I need to get done, especially being a single mom. I am patiently awaiting the day when I can hold my precious little girl in my arms, look at her in her (hopefully blue) eyes and tell her how much mommy loves her. ❤

Purple Passion Eyes

IMG_20121227_131614 The “smokey eye” look is my all-time favorite eye shadow technique. I use it quite often, most of the time with only two colors (usually brown shades) when I’m trying to do something quick. I also like to use this technique a lot when I use my loud colors. It just adds a little extra brightness to your face. Every time I do my make up like this, I get countless compliments. I personally like to use the smokey eye technique with the cat eye top liner because people can get a better view of the different colors used on your eyes. Always, I prime my eye before I put on any eye shadow (after I’ve already applied my foundation). For this occasion, I used a very light sparkly purple on my entire eyelid. I have a huge variety of different shades of purple, so I chose the colors that would best match the shirt I was wearing at that time. I picked a light purple (as I’ve mentioned), a very bright, dark purple to edge the very end of my eye lid, and then a medium purple in the middle to blend the light and dark colors together near my crease. IMG_20121227_131437This creates a gradient pattern to your eyeshadow. When I’m done adding my main colors, I usually use a shimmery nude color on my brow line to help blend out the outside edges and also to cover the extra “bare skin” just below my eyebrows; but for this session I used a sparkly fairy white color. Doing this makes your eye shadow look complete, especially if you draw on your eyebrows, as I do. The top eyeliner can be tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing. I will make a video sometime during the next two weeks to teach girls how to apply their top eyeliner to make perfect “cat-eyes”. In the mean time, there are numerous YouTube videos of other girls teaching you how to do it. This look looks good with or without the top eyeliner, but I prefer to use it because I think it gives my eyes more definition; in other words, it makes them pop out more. IMG_20121227_131818Lastly, I add eyeliner and mascara and then I’m done! I’m not a big fan of using fake anything, but I did recently give in to buying some. I want to try to use them on special occasions when I do a lot of big, flashy, fancy eye make-up, such as the one I did for Christmas. I plan to use them sparingly because I don’t want to ruin my real eyelashes that I love so much. However, sometimes I just can’t get my eyelashes to look as full and thick as the fake ones do. I’m also trying to expand my make-up collection, so that’s another reason why I bought them. Not to mention they only cost me $3.00 + free shipping because they’re coming straight from China. Stay tuned because I have a busy upcoming week, which means I will be going out, getting dressed up and doing a lot of more new make-up tricks, which also means new make-up blog posts!

Pregnancy Post #2 – 21 Weeks

So there are many exciting events that have happened since the last time I’ve blogged! I really need to discipline myself to develop a routine for this whole “blogging” thing.

  • Tuesday, 10/30/12 – I definitely felt the baby moving inside me on this afternoon. There was some strange activity going on in my stomach, so I curiously put my hands there. Next thing you know, BOOM! I feel the baby kick or punch right where I put my right hand. It was so incredible, it sent love throughout my entire being. I ran to my mom’s room to tell her about it I was so excited! She was so happy to hear that I felt the baby move for the first time. She told me that she remembered when she was pregnant and felt me kick her for the first time. It was such a special moment, one I’ll remember forever. ❤
  • Wednesday, 10/31/12 – Happy Halloween! My plans for this evening consisted of watching scary movies, eating pumpkin pie with my mother and enjoying the beautiful weather. I didn’t really feel the need to do anything this Halloween because one, I’m pregnant; two, I’m broke; and three, I’m all the way in Lake City, Florida, the middle of almost no where (although I like that aspect about this place), and there’s no kids around here to trick-or-treat anyway! So this momma stayed home for this Holiday. This has to be my favorite time of year simply because I enjoy the cold much more than the hot (It’s easier to keep yourself warm than it is to keep yourself cool in my opinion), your make-up stays on your face, your hair stays perfectly straight and blows delightfully in the wind (this makes me feel like Marilyn Monroe), coffee tastes better when it’s cold outside, and it’s the time for wearing cute scarves and hats, big over-sized jackets and hoodies, and my favorite, boots. Boots, leggings, a coat, and a scarf is my ideal outfit (for someone who lives in Florida cold of course). This morning, I was awaken by those now familiar movements in my belly. What a joy to wake up to something like that. It put the biggest smile on my face! I felt like the baby was telling me “Good morning. Wake up mommy!” And then I told it “Good morning. You are an early bird aren’t you?!” lol. It was the cutest most memorable morning I ever had. The kicks and punches occurred often throughout the day and it just made me so happy. I absolutely love being a mom already, and I’m so in love with somebody that I haven’t met yet.
  • Thursday, 11/1/12 – Today was my 2nd ultrasound appointment. I made the appointment in Jacksonville so that Jacob could be there. We were beyond excited for this appointment and he had a bunch of things planned for me and him while I stayed with him for the weekend. The appointment was at 3:30 and ALL of our friends on Facebook has been waiting to find out what we are having. Although I wasn’t thinking too much about what I wanted it to be just so that I wouldn’t be disappointed, deep down from the very first day we found out I was pregnant, I, scratch that, We wanted/prayed/hoped for a baby girl.At the very end of the appointment, we finally find out what the gender is.
Daddy teared up he was so happy! It was the sweetest thing I ever saw. We were holding hands both overfilled with joy and happiness. He was recording the ultrasound the whole time on my phone because we didn’t bring a DVD disk for the OB to record on, but we still got the video of the ultrasound.

    Ultrasound #2

  • We both posted our status’ on Facebook and by the end of the day, I felt like celebrity. My post had a total of 75 likes! I have never had that many people like anything of mine, EVER! I was happy to see that everybody was happy for us. I’m sure the status was so popular partially because everyone I know has had/is going to have a boy. So for my friends to see that I’m having a girl was very exciting for them all. Especially because I am the biggest girly girl in the whole world, so it was ideal for me to have a girl!
  • Friday, 11/2/12 – Last night, Jacob took me out to our favorite Mexican Restaurant: Ole. Today, he bought me lunch and a Starbucks frappe, and then we went walking at the Town Center to shop for the baby’s first out when she comes home. It took us till the very last store we walked in to find the perfect outfit, but luckily we found it. It was a $16 four-piece set from the Carter’s baby store. It came with a teddy bear hat, a short-sleeve onesie, a long-sleeve onesie with footies, and pink leggings with teddy bear footies. It was the perfect buy because we could choose which outfit depending on the weather. The due-date is in late March so we don’t know if it’s still going to be cold or not, so we got both just in case.
  • Monday, 11/5/12 – I came back home to Lake City last night, and this morning, I woke up relatively early and decided to go outside and check on the garlic I grew last week. I was surprised to see that a few of them had already sprouted out of the ground! I was so happy that my plants were growing, so I ran to get the watering can and filled it up so I could water the garlic since I had been gone all weekend. I only water them .5 in. of water twice a week (if it doesn’t rain) because I read about how often to water your garlic. I started making my personal “weekly garlic growing log” to track how good or bad my garlic grows so I can experiment to figure out what’s the best way to grow, what not to do next time, etc. Then, I recreated it in Microsoft Excel so that it was neater or legible. I don’t want to make mistakes and have to cross things out and I don’t like to write in pencil. The tallest garlic stem grew to 3.25 in. in a week! So I can not wait to see the progress of my plants and I’m going to start taking pictures of the growth to add to my log.So that’s about everything that happened in the last week that is worth writing about since the last time I blogged. I plan to blog about my new hobby: nail art. I’ve been watching YouTube videos of different girls painting their nails the way the professionals do in the salon, only at your house. Also Ive already starting buying the tools I need for the nail art so once I start using them, I’ll blog about it. I also want to add make-up to this nail art blog since it all has to do with beauty. I bought a bunch of new eyeshadow palettes that I want to try out and take pictures of to show everybody (Eventually I want to have enough pictures to build my portfolio for cosmetic school). Shoot, I might even have make a tutorial video for this one. So there are a bunch of plans for the next week. Soon I’m also going to start making my own bows and hair accessories for myself and my daughter! This will probably be my favorite project! (:
