My Labor Experience

Well here’s the post everyone’s been waiting for. I’m going to start from the very beginning:

At 41 weeks, Jacob and I started doing everything, literally EVERYTHING, to induce my labor. From eating spicy food, going on bumpy rides every single day, walking until my feet felt like they would fall off (BTW I didn’t swell during my entire pregnancy because I drank plenty of water), doing the dirty, acupressure, massages, bananas, yoga, stripping my membranes (twice!), whatever you can think of, we did it, and NOTHING WORKED. So my conclusion on inducing labor based on my personal experience is that nothing can induce labor, your baby comes whenever he/she decides to come.

I was scheduled to be induced Monday morning, and as much as I was opting not to be induced, I was going to let them because one, it would be safer for the baby not to exceed 42 weeks in utero, and two I would be more than ready at that point for Natalia to be here. Fortunately my water finally broke the Friday afternoon prior to my induction date. At first I wasn’t sure if it broke or not, so I asked my mom what it felt like. She said it feels like you’re uncontrollably peeing on yourself. Soon after that, about 15 minutes, I was confirmed of my water breaking because liquid started pouring out, lol. I didn’t call the Doctor nor did I go to the hospital. I waited until I started having contractions 5-10 apart for an hour like my doctors instructed, which didn’t happen until 18 hours later. Bad idea for me to not go in right away because of the risk of infection, but how was I supposed to know? This is my first time having a baby, and BOTH of my GYN’s told me not to come in until I started having contractions. There was no mention of my water breaking. And since I’m totally healthy, I didn’t think there was any reason for me or my baby to develop an “infection”. According to what I researched, the vaginal exams are what cause infections in the first place, which makes complete sense to me.

So the next morning around 6am I started having mild contractions, then they increased in pain and decreased in time apart, so by 8 am Jacob and I were on our way to the hospital. When we got there the nurses asked me if my water broke & I told them yes it did, yesterday afternoon. They all looked at me like I was crazy and asked why I waited so long to come in. I told them that I didn’t feel the need to come in because everything seemed fine and that my Doctor told me not to come in until I was having contractions, so I was simply following instructions. Well, when they started my IV they told me they were going to start me on antibiotics. In shock I asked “for what?” And the nurse said “the GBS that you’re positive for”. I was in total disbelief and said “excuse me, but what in the world are you talking about?” She explained to me that I was positive for Group B Strep, (the test they give you when you’re 36 weeks) and that the baby has been swimming in infected amniotic fluid for the entire time since my water broke. GBS (Group B Strep) is a bacteria that is carried by both men and women, that does not affect adults but can be very harmful for unborn babies, which is why pregnant women ate tested for it at 36 weeks. Men will never know if they have it or not because they will never be tested for it since they obviously can’t get pregnant. Well when I took the test, nothing was ever mentioned about it after that, so I assumed I was negative. I would expect a Doctor to tell you the results of your tests, ESPECIALLY if you’re positive for it, don’t you?! So yeah, I was carrying this infection and had no idea about it. I was infuriated by this new found information because now my baby is at risk. If I would’ve known about this infection, I would’ve been at the hospital the day before when my water broke.

Anyways, once your water breaks you have 24 hours to get the baby out or it can become something serious. So I had 6 hours to deliver my daughter and I was only 2 cm dilated (and have been for two weeks!). They started me on pitocin right away. 2 hours later they checked my cervix to find that I was still only 2 cm dilated, so a c-section was the final decision. At first I wanted to cry because I felt cheated out of my wanting for a natural delivery since I was never informed about this infection that could be potentially fatal to my unborn daughter. I also was not so phsyched about having such a dramatic surgery, especially since I’ve never had surgery of any kind. I asked the nurses if they had c-sections and even asked if I could see their scars because I also wasn’t very excited about having such a large scar on my belly. One of the young nurses showed me not her scar because it was so low, but pulled her shirt up just to show me that the scar was below her panty line. I couldn’t even see it! And she was so skinny you wouldn’t even be able to tell that she had a baby, and she had 2! So that made me feel A LOT better about it. So on we went with the procedure.

They had me fill out all kinds of forms and explained to Jacob and I what would be happening. He had to change into scrubs so he could be there with me while the doctors carried me into the operation room so they could numb me from the waist down. They gave me a spinal anesthetic that literally took 5 seconds to kick in. I felt a rush of a numbing sensation that actually felt really good, lol! I felt very shaky though shortly afterwards which I didn’t like too much. Also, the shot they gave me was a MUCH smaller needle than that of the epidural, which I was very happy about because that was the very reason I had decided I wasn’t going to have an epidural if this would’ve happened naturally.

They cut me open and tugged, pushed and pulled (which I could feel a lot of although it didn’t hurt, it was just a lot of pressure) and then out came the baby, 7lbs. and 14oz. of her. About a minute later I heard her first cry and was in tears at the amazing sound that I had waited 9 long months to hear. Jacob cried with me and we were both very happy. However, because she was infected, they took her from us right away. I got to see her and kiss her cheek before she left and dad asked to see her hair because she was wearing a cap. When they took it off, we were amazed to see a head full of dark hair, just like I dreamed about!

So they took me to the recovery room while we waited to hear from the doctor’s what was going on with Natalia. Now there are a lot of details to what was happening between the surgery and the end, so I’m just going to make the long story short: The doctors were concerned about her breathing patterns. They ran blood tests and white blood cell tests which came back triple the amount of what was normal, meaning that her body was already building white blood cells to fight off whatever infection she had. They were also concerned about some “seizure-like episodes” that she was supposedly having which made the nurses decide to transfer her to Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville because they were a small town hospital that did not have all the tools needed to run the tests they wanted her to have. They weren’t sure what she was doing because she’s a  newborn, hence their wanting to run tests just to make sure she was acting normal. I was completely devastated because the doctors made it seem like she was having all these problems, they even mentioned a possibility of meningitis. I cried so hard and asked “what are they going to do to my baby?!” Jacob tried his hardest to keep his composure because I was so upset about everything and then he broke down and started crying with me.

Natalia went through so much in the first days of her life in the outside world. She IV’s since she was born, she had all kinds of tests run on her, she had MRI’s she had her spine tapped, all kinds of bullshit. I know that they were just trying to be on the safe side, but what new mom wants to see her first baby go through all this trauma?! Anyways, in the end Natalia was completely fine. They ran all these tests just to find nothing wrong with her. She just had an infection and the antibiotics they started me on before the surgery killed it just in time. So we went through all this heartache for nothing. It was very crazy. We ended up being in the hospital for 5 days before finally bringing her home.I was in the hospital for 3 days recovering from the surgery. They transferred Natalia on my second day of recovery so I couldn’t even go to the hospital to be with my baby until the next day. Jacob had to drive from Lake City to Jacksonville, back to Lake City to pick me up, back to Jacksonville so we could be at the hospital every day and then finally back to Lake City so we could come home, and then he had to drive back so he could go home, lol! Lots and lots of driving.

At the end of the day, there were a lot of lessons learned from this entire experience. Although it was scary, it was very worth it and I am happy to say that I am a new mom to a very happy and healthy baby girl. According to her pediatrician she eats better than the average baby for her size and is growing at a great rate. She is such a good baby, hardly ever cries unless she needs something. She is always very content and has such a well-developed personality already. She’s definitely mommy and daddy’s little diva girl!

I also would like to mention that my perspective about c-sections have dramatically changed since I underwent the surgery. I actually prefer to have the c-section because I didn’t have to feel any pain WHATSOEVER, everything went by so quick it was unbelievable. The entire procedure took a total of 55 minutes. No contractions, no pain, GREAT pain meds during and afterwards lol, and my little girls head did not get squished and my vagina didn’t rip! The scar is barely noticeable, looks like a pen line just below my bikini line and nobody will ever be able to see it unless I show them, which means I can still wear my bikini this summer! Best of all, this entire event brought me and Jacob closer together and he loves me more now than ever before since having to be there with me and watching me go through all of this craziness. I definitely want to share my story because I think it’s well worth mentioning to people. Always prepare for the worst because you never know what’s going to happen, and always be optimistic about negative things that you have no control over because they are not always as bad as they seem.

Today my baby girl is 2 weeks and 3 days old and she is making the cutest “ooh” and “ahh” sounds, she picks her head up all by herself to look around because she wants to see everything, she will NOT fall asleep without being held, so she’s already spoiled, lol! (Thanks Jacob!)

One more thing I want to add before I conclude my super long birth story; because Natalia was taken from me right from the beginning, we didn’t get to experience the first bonding of mother and baby to establish breastfeeding, which is essential! And I am completely against giving my baby formula for several reasons. One because I’m pro-natural, two because I don’t feel that formula gives babies everything they need like breast milk does, three because of all the side effects that come from formula fed babies that I’ve researched, such as being more prone to obesity and becoming sick with diseases, and four because although the formula feeds the baby for longer periods of time (formula fed babies eat 6-10 times a day vs. breastfed babies eat 8-12 times a day) which means the formula “sits” in their stomachs and that just reminds me of McDonald’s food which is totally gross in my opinion. I already decided I wanted to breastfeed exclusively. Well since I didn’t get to breastfeed for the first week, I didn’t establish a good milk supply, so I couldn’t produce enough milk to feed my baby. Not only that but the doctors shoved bottles and pacifiers in my newborn baby’s mouth which pissed me the **** off! If they needed to syringe feed her then okay, but I was not about the pacifiers or bottles because of nipple confusion. So Natalia had a difficult time latching on for the first week and a half of our being together. It was making me sore and I was to the point where I was about to just give up all together. But then I decided “screw that!” I’m not going to give up because I WANT this for my baby, so I’m going to MAKE SURE it happens, no matter what it takes. If I have to breastfeed her every half hour then so be it. I consulted with a lactation specialist who was so inspired by my determination and told me that that’s what it takes, you have to really want to breastfeed for it to work out, which is what I truly want, exclusively. I only will use formula if I have to supplement, but otherwise I want to strictly breastfeed my baby mostly because it’s the healthiest for her, but also because it does establish a bonding relationship with you and your baby that just feels like pure love, and I want that with me and Natalia. So I have a $700 hospital grade breast pump that I’m using FOR FREE for a week-2 weeks just because my lactation specialist wants to help me because she sees how bad I want this. Unfortunately Natalia and I had a rough start, but now that things are back to normal we are going to work this out to both of our benefits. My advice to anybody else out there with this problem is to never give up on the things that you truly want. I am proud to say that Natalia has gotten MUCH better about latching on (although she still needs some improvement) and I am finally being able to produce enough milk to catch up with her needs. (:

15 More Nesting Projects To Do

Hello my beautiful readers! As I’ve mentioned in one of my previous posts, I just recently finished completing a list of 10-12 nesting projects that I was inspired to make from Pinterest, and I’m sure you guys are expecting my next list that I talked about making. Well, I’m done choosing which projects to do next while I wait for little Natalia to be here (which btw I’m 41 weeks and 1 day today and she’s still not here!) So to keep my head on straight, I’m going to occupy myself with these cute projects that I found to keep myself busy. (:

#1. Glitter Wine Glasses

155303887120076180_F3gIlXA5_c

After I have this baby, I’m definitely planning on celebrating my treating myself to a very long missed glass of wine, but I want it to be festive and decorative so I’m going to make a pink glitter wine glass for my 9 month break celebration. These are so easy to make, all I need to do is get some very fine loose pink glitter and a couple of cheap wine glasses from the dollar store.

#2. DIY Nail Polish Rack.

ec802992a52689fed2123cf15860e096 dsc05671 07ab90ec8af04c8e1eb6c67f44c3827b

If you follow my blog, then you are familiar with my addiction for nail polish and nail art. I have quite a large collection of nail polish and nail art supplies, but they’re all stored away in shoe boxes. I was going to decorate the shoe boxes but it just seems like to much trouble, especially since they’re not even visible, they’re sitting on shelves in my closet. I planned to buy a nail polish display rack that mounts on the wall from Amazon, but it’s $30! I came across this AMAZING idea where you make your own nail polish rack using foam boards, glue and whatever you want to decorate it with. I find so many pros to this project that completely knock this item off my Amazon wish list. For one, it’s totally affordable. Considering I have all the decorations I need, I only have to spend $12 making this ($7 for 3 foam boards – 1.99 each plus tax @ Walmart, and $4 plus tax for some permanent craft glue.) Aside from the inexpensiveness of this project, one of my other favorite things about it is that you can make it as big or small as you want, add as many shelves as you want, and decorate it to match whatever you want! Instead of using duct tape like many other people used, I’m going to mod podge glitter on mine and use duct tape for the inside background to hide that screws that I will have to insert to mount it on the wall. I also plan to add a larger top shelf to hold all my nail art supplies; which brings me to the next project shown, the decorative tin cans that will hold all my brushes. When I’m done with this project it’s going to look so cute in my room and help me to keep all my nail polish stuff organized. Not to mention the easy access of it being conveniently hung on my wall so I don’t have to take down boxes from shelves!

#3. Modular Shelf Organization.

a1898bd862386d232fc2a3514638820d

This is another item that I have saved to my Amazon wish list. My obsession goes on to make-up which I have TONS of and am looking for new ways to organize it. I’m going to start by moving all my hair care products to modular shelves that I will hang next to my mirror on my dresser, moving them off my dresser so that I have more room to store the new makeup that I keep buying but don’t need.

#4. Glitter Keys

glueglitterclearnailpolish

I LOVE glitter (if you can’t tell) and am trying to use all of mine in the most useful ways. I want to make my ugly keys cute and girly and what better way to do that then to add glitter?! So I’m going to mod podge glitter to all my undecorated plain silver keys to make them look as cute as this one. I want to do them all in pink, but different shades to give them a gradient effect.

#5. DIY Sunglasses Holder

86c78c4179461466caf85a1fd1964386

I have soooooo many pairs of sunglasses put away in a bag that I have to go through every time I want to wear a different pair. It’s a little aggravating to have to dump the entire bag out just so I can see what the pairs look like. Not only that but they are also at risk of being damaged. So I came across this nifty idea that I want to make that also hangs on the wall. (I’m trying to decorate my plain walls!) All I need is a long skinny picture frame and some pretty ribbon (zebra of course!) to make this, so I plan on buying these items sometime this week when I get paid. (:

#6. Glitter Clothespin Magnets

2dfd40d86e0d698477ed4220f1f8cdfb gflitterclothespinmagnets

More glitter? Yes please! I found these ADORABLE clothespin magnets that you can decorate however you want. I like the way whoever did this decorated theirs. They used glitter and zebra print, which is what I plan to do, but I’m going to make mine turquoise, hot pink & lime green. I already have clothespins, magnets and zebra fabric and duct tape, whichever I decide to use. I just have to buy neon acrylic paint that I can get at Walmart for $1.50 a bottle and some new paintbrushes because I’ve been using the heck out of mine! So I’m due for a new set. (: These will go perfect on the DIY magnetic board that I also plan on making, but I will post about that later on.

#7. Shower Curtain Rod Organization

showerrodoppositeformorestorage

Since my shower caddy keeps falling off, and it’s hard to clean, and it’s pretty much breaking my shower head off, I found this useful idea to hang another shower curtain rod on the opposite side of the shower and use curtain hooks to hang dollar store baskets and other items. I’m definitely going to make use of this. I already have the shower curtain rod, but I can get the hooks for $1 at Dollar Tree and the cute baskets (orange to match my bathroom) at Familiar Dollar. I think I can get a pack of 6 for $3.

#8. Bobby Pin Carrier

F99B30F2AEAE2C52ACF5B5835FCC14_h400_w261_m2_bblack_q100_p100_cFuQsHCkx 820b81e68d55e11a14ab3960f6a2e88a

This simple idea is so useful for a girl like me. I use bobby pins ALL THE TIME and need them at the most random times. What better way to carry them than with a tic tac box?! I can use it for traveling and to just have in my purse. All I need to buy are the tic tacs. (:

#9: Easy To Make Bookmarks

d980cd466331df42af9766f7b87b7903 whenyouloseanearring

I’ve never been much of a reader, until lately. And I don’t have any cute bookmarks, but I do have a lot of cute missing or broken jewelry pieces, and tonsssss of scrap-booking paper and supplies as well as ribbon. So I figured I could put these items to use and make my own bookmarks like these cute ones!

#10. Easy To Make Hair Bows

7d2150a33d65c9466bee45d7b74c19b9

I loveee hair accessories: hair bows, headbands, ribbons, clips, flowers, anything to accentuate your everyday hairstyles. So I want to try to make my own just for the heck of it! I found this cute easy tutorial that I want to try out.

#11. Mod Podge Ceiling Fan

76a2987f58948d3712d43bf5b8b78f6a

I have an $80 zebra print fan blade set saved to my “future” Amazon wish list. But that just got deleted the other day when I came across this picture! Somebody used wallpaper border and applied it to their ceiling fan blades that made it look so good I had to do the same! But instead of using wallpaper border (because it’s pretty expensive) I’m going to use fabric mod podge and just apply zebra print fabric to it! I want to do this for my fan and the Natalia’s fan to match her and my zebra print bedrooms. ❤ *BTW the last of these projects including this one are all baby related projects.

#12. Glitter Rocks for Decoration

e8de5332f199f98d2a980b3e5c9b20b8

Yes, I have more glitter projects on the list. A girly girl like me can never have too much sparkle in her life. I think this is the cutest idea ever. Since I live in the country surrounded by woods and nature, these rocks are easy to find around here and match the environment so well, and adding sparkle will just give it that girly personalization that I love to add to everything of mine. But this project however is for my daughters bed room. I don’t have too many things decorating the tops of her dressers and night table, so this is an expensive decoration that I will make for her instead! I just need the rocks, the glue, the glitter and a cute little acrylic container to put them in, which I can get one at the Dollar Tree for just a dollar.

#13. Make a Plain Plastic Basket Cute with Ribbon

2809456d19e9f4640b691be445d1dfd8

Natalia has some baskets in her room that I bought to hold stuff in and they looks similar to this basket but they’re actually cuter because I bought pink ones, hehehe. (; I also have very pretty sparkly silver, black and white ribbon I can use to decorate them with even more because Lord knows how much I love ribbon and how many ribbon bows I already have all over Natalia’s room. She’s going to be such a girly girl just like her momma. ❤

#14. 3D Butterfly Frame

359c4f03ed6849681724982b9d30786c

I think this is just absolutely adorable. All white butterflies and one pink one with the baby’s name date and time of birth. I want to make this for Natalia and hang it on the wall. I need to buy a black frame and a butterfly punch. I have the card stock. This will be so fun to make!

#15. Decorated Letter

8ed9911b504435d938a008ce1360540b 6a9f4b3ba48c6e0b3ec924f26e130b91 6dbd1acd4bee1003bfb97fb8ef58ebdc fabriconcanvaswithwoodletters 505ac2cc508e92751255eac2847351fc 27b47d433e7ecb1b6a5229627b0f37d8

I was going to buy letters to spell out NATALIA, but they are so expensive these days! You can buy cheap ones, but they’re just not as cute as the other ones. I have old letters that spell out KAREN because that’s my sisters name, but she never used them, so they’ve just been laying around collecting dust. I’m going to use just the N letter and decorate that to hang on the door since her room already has too many wall decorations. I have all these photos for ideas and inspiration. ❤

Well these are my project plans for the next few weeks. I’m very excited about making them and I still have more that I want to do! But these will do for now. I will start shopping for my supplies tomorrow, so keep looking for my next post; it will be all these projects but MINE. (:

Valentine’s Day Nails <3

IMG_20130204_235442These are my Valentine’s Day Nail Designs Set #1. I numbered it because I plan on doing at least 3 other Valentine’s Day inspired designs I found on the internet that I just HAVE to try! I really like this design because I think stripes look so cute on nails (it makes them look like present boxes) and it uses the perfect colors for this Holiday: white, light pink, dark pink, and red. It even has a little sparkle on the lips. ;*

2013-02-04_21-14-47_475You can either paint all your nails the same base color (preferably a light color), or you can do what I did and alternate the colors on each of your toes. I did light pink, dark pink, and white on my right foot and then dark pink, white and light pink on my left foot. Then, I used several different sized brushes to draw thin and thick lines in different colors on all of my toes. I thought about just putting stripes on my big toes, leaving my little toes the alternated colors and just adding a rhinestone to the bottom of each toe. Another great thing about this nail design is that you can switch up the patterns, which toes get decorated, and even change out the colors so you can match any holiday!

2013-02-04_17-10-23_493For this design, I used my ruby Kisses French White, Wet n’ Wild Shin’s Tickled Pink, Pure Ice Flirt Alert, Nicolé by OPI’s Stolen Kisses and Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength Wedding Crasher. Oh, I can’t forget the top coat: my most frequently used Sally Hansen’s Clear Base & Top coat. I also used several different sized brushes of different brands (all ordered online @ Amazon from Hong Kong) and a small sized dotting tool to draw my kisses. It doesn’t take any special nail decorations, just polish, one brush will do, and a dotting tool. If you don’t have these items, then improvise! You can buy nail art polish at the Dollar Tree for one dollar and use that brush (although you have to clean it every time you use a different color) and instead of paying $8 at Sally’s Beauty Supply on a dotting tool, you can use a toothpick; it works just the same. I buy all my nail art tools online simply because it’s cheaper and you get more for your money. But you can use simple everyday items around the house to save yourself the money. This design took me about an hour to do, not including drying time. So if you have the time and if you’re up to it, try it out! You’ll have the cutest toes ever and you don’t even have to go to the salon. (:

2013-02-05_11-20-57_468

2013-02-05_11-21-53_209As for my nails, I decided to use a different style, the one I thought about for my toes as I mentioned previously. I wanted something that would match my toes because I usually get so excited about nail art that I can’t make a decision on which one to do, so I do one for my nails and a different one for my toes. But this timeee, I’m going to match them. (:

2013-02-04_23-44-36_591First, I painted my nails the alternated colors: light pink, white, dark pink, white, light pink. I apply two coats of each of these colors; after they dry, I used my Milani Silver Dazzle, a sparkly charcoal color, to draw X’s and O’s on my ring fingers in a diagonal pattern. I then used  OPI’s Stolen Kisses to draw 3 kisses on my index fingers. While my kisses dry, I use Pure Ice Beeware, a silver glitter polish to paint glitter tips and then I brought them down to about halfway of my nail as light towards the middle as possible to give it a gradient effect. By this time, my kisses have dried, so now I apply Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength Wedding Crasher glitter polish on the lips to make them stand out. I apply three rhinestones on each of my hands in the middle at the very bottom of my thumbs, pinky’s and middle fingers. Last I apply a top coat and let them dry and BAM: my matching Valentine’s Day nails are done. This design was actually really easy and I didn’t even have to look online for an idea, it just kind of came to me after I got done painting my toes. (I’ll probably do that from now on so my idea’s will be more original.) This design took about 35 minutes not including drying time.

TV Commercial That Made Me Wonder…

polls_stop_watching_4123_831161_answer_3_xlargeI rarely ever watch T.V. and when I do, I usually just watch Family Guy at night before I go to bed for their mass reality sarcasm, and I usually end up falling asleep before the show is over anyway. Well, last night I saw a direct TV commercial that advertised a satellite box that records up to 2,000 hours of television shows. Yep, that’s right: 2,000, 2-0-0-0, two-thousand hours. So I thought to myself, wow that’s a whole freakin’ lot of television! And then I did the math in my head: If a person watches one hour of T.V. a day (which I can’t imagine anybody watching more than that unless they have no life), every single day, that’s 365 hours of T.V. in one year. So that would mean that this satellite box can record about 2 and a half years’ worth of television shows. I’m sorry but this really baffles me. How could someone seriously watch THAT much T.V.?! It’s ridiculous if you ask me! I don’t even watch T.V. every day because I don’t think there is anything interesting on there anyway. Every show is the same, just different people and different stories; some kind of drama going on and people commenting on it. Even the news is like that, and just about every single thing on T.V. is fake anyways! No wonder people have become so lazy. More than half of the American population spend more time watching T.V. then they do spending time outside. According to statisticbrain.com, the average person spend 5 hours and 11 minutes watching television a day. Studies show that violence, drugs and other issues are associated with the daily viewing of television. television-brainwashing-advertisingNo wonder, look at all the T.V. shows, the way they act, the things they say, and the commercials they show every 15 minutes that advertise all kinds of unnecessary crap used to persuade us into spending our hard earned money. The contradictory advertisements of the promotion of selling cigarettes and then the commercials that talk about how bad they are for you. The fact that illicit drugs are illegal, yet they come up with products that promote the illicit illegal drugs (i.e. Cocaine, the newest energy drink). The commercials that advertise all these medical products that are sold to “fix” a problem (that could otherwise be healed naturally if you bothered to research it) and all the terrible side effects that come along with them that nobody pays attention to. What do you think your children are watching? Have you seen any of the children’s shows that you let them watch lately? Look at what the media is teaching your children, how to act, how to talk, how to treat their parents and other children around them. It just seems to be getting worse and worse about teaching our kids how to behave in society. Daily television watching relates to countless health problems including obesity. Then they advertise all the super model celebrities with “dream bodies” (which ARE photo-shopped) to make you feel that much worse about yourself for sitting there watching that shit in the first place!

TV-BrainwashingI personally think that there is WAY more to life than staring at a screen being brainwashed and programmed by nonsense. Because that’s what T.V. does, it programs you to think that the way those people act are how people act in real life, and then people in real life start acting like the people they see on T.V. Remember that Scooby Doo movie with the actual real people, where they discovered the lab that had “programs” on T.V. that taught people how to act? That’s a subliminal message and it is EXACTLY what happens in our society these days. People are so consumed by what they see on T.V. that they don’t even realize how programmed they really are. Like the guy in this youtube video says, “You think like a tube, you act like a tube, you eat like a tube, you teach your children how to be a tube, you are a tube!” (Referring to T.V.) You ever see those people who seem to be hypnotized by T.V.? They watch it all day every single day like it’s air to breath? Crazy right?! Sadly, there really are people out there who live like that. They are completely brainwashed by the box. I found this guy’s article on the internet and he explains the mass media television brainwashing topic better than anyone I’ve read about so far. Here’s an excerpt that might inspire you to read his article:

If the angle is right, you might catch your own reflection in the screen. Jaw slightly open, lips relaxed into a smile. The blank stare of a television zombie. This is {soft} brainwashing, even more effective because its victims go about their lives unaware of what is being done to them. Television, with its reach into nearly every American home, creates the basis for the mass brainwashing of citizens, like you.

wash_deesHere is another excerpt from another related article about another guy’s personal thoughts on T.V. that I found quite intriguing:

Television is not real.
Nothing we see on the television is based on or presented to us in a realistic setting. Sure, they try really hard to convince us that it’s real, but what is reality? Reality is what we make of it. Reality is the color of the walls in your bedroom; reality is the itch on your back that you just can’t reach; reality, to me, is the notion that marriage is over rated; reality is the fact that I’m not worried about my daughter getting stung by a bee or falling down the stairs, because those things are going to happen; Reality is the fact that I’m actually afraid of when she goes to kindergarten and has to pass her Hello Kitty backpack through a fucking metal detector.

media-brainwashingSo do yourselves a favor and stop watching so much T.V. It does NOTHING for you, in fact it makes you stupid, unaware, lazy, as well as a bunch of other bad things. Go outside in the fresh air and take control of your own mind instead of allowing it to be influenced by a bunch of bullshit. Get creative, learn about things you’ve never known about, pay attention to your surroundings that you probably never even notice, enjoy life and live it outside of the box (T.V.) spend time with your family, friends, children and pets. There’s a lot more out there, more than you can imagine, if you would just turn that damn T.V. off.

Pregnancy Post #13 – 32 Weeks

Before I get started, this is just a friendly note for my readers: The purpose of my pregnancy posts is solely to express my thoughts about my pregnancy and to describe my productive daily activities. I understand that sometimes I write a whole lot, but that’s because I have a whole lot to talk about. I don’t expect anybody to read everything I write because it will probably bore some of you. I assume this because I personally don’t like to read any super loooooong post about somebody’s life that I don’t even know, although sometimes I find it interesting to read about how other people spend their days. So for anybody who gets bored of my forever long posts, I apologize. And for those of you who enjoy reading my posts, I’m glad you enjoy reading about the things I enjoy spending my days doing. So the following is another one of my long pregnancy posts about the things I’ve been doing since my last post, and I hope you enjoy it. (:

31 Weeks & 3 Days Pregnant.

  • 32 Weeks and 2 Days Pregnant Today!
  • Gained a total of 30 pounds since pre-pregnancy.
  • Upcoming Events: Baby Shower on Saturday, Birthday on Sunday, Dr. Appt. on Tuesday.

For the past couple of weeks, something has completely come over me, and I think it is what most people refer to as “nesting”. I have all kinds of energy and tons ideas running through my head all day and night. I find myself excessively cleaning & cooking, writing more to do lists than usual, and finding all kinds of crafting ideas to keep me busy. I’m making a bunch of cute decorations and my own games for my baby shower. I have a folder of saved Pinterest pictures of ideas that I want to do for the baby’s nursery. I also have shopping lists of all kinds of crafts that I want to have around the house that I can work on when I have nothing to do! This past week I have become OBSESSED with Pinterest, pinning all kinds of cute things to make for Natalia and her bedroom, organizing her closet, redesigning her dresser, etc. I am so excited about all my new findings and even more excited that I have all kinds of things to spend my time doing. This is good because then I have all kinds of things to blog about! ;D

Pinterest Inspired Cable Organizers.

Pinterest Inspired Cable Organizers.

The ideas that I’m finding are so easy to make and take no time at all! For example, I found this adorable organization idea for all my loose wires that are jumbled up in drawers. I don’t know what half of them are for! You save all your cardboard toilet paper rolls, which I have MORE THAN ENOUGH of since I am constantly going to the bathroom! Then you wrap your wires in them and set them neatly in a box. It’s perfect! The only thing is, I thought that plain cardboard rolls were kind of ugly, so I decided to decorate mine. I found some hot pink duct tape that I bought a couple years ago for a high school project and taped my cardboard rolls up. Then I labeled them with a sharpie so I would know exactly what that wire is used for. Viola; pretty in pink organized wires. Super cute, super easy and super cheap! I also like the idea that I can recycle things that are usually thrown away.

As I’ve said before, I’ve been making countless lists of alllllll kinds of things ranging from to-do lists, to shopping lists, to idea’s lists, wish lists, etc. I really enjoy making to-do lists on the daily, and anybody who knows me will confirm this, because it keeps me busy, organized, and best of all, it helps me not to forget the things I need to do! I find my lists very helpful and I usually like to write them in different colored pens and doodle all over them to make them pretty. If you haven’t noticed already, I am a HUGE girly girl that loves all things pink and glittery. So I attempt to make everything of mine as so.

Anyways, back to my pregnancy notes, my baby shower is this Saturday and I am SO super excited about it!!! All my decorations have been delivered, and so has my dress. I have to mention that the dress looks absolutely FABULOUS on me! It’s pink and black to match the colors of my shower, and I have the perfect matching shoes to go with it. The decorations are perfect and can be re-used for future parties. My 20th birthday is on Sunday, but since I’m having the baby shower party, I’m not going to have a birthday party. It’s going to be kind of a birthday party and a baby shower, but I don’t want people to feel obligated to bring me baby presents and birthday presents, so it’s going to be labeled as strictly baby shower, lol. Because I’m making the baby shower such a huge production, I don’t really have any special plans for my birthday. After all, it’s just another year older and it’s not even a special number. So I think what I’m going to do is just get really dressed up, (pink & glittery!) go out to eat at a special restaurant and go shopping for some make-up supplies that have been on my wish list for the longest time. That sounds like the perfect birthday celebration for this momma this year! And then next year when I turn 21, I will have a fancy cocktail party! (;

Pregnancy Preparedness!

Pregnancy Preparedness!

My next doctor’s appointment is on Tuesday and my mother will be accompanying me to this one because the doctor is going to give me one last ultrasound to see where the baby is positioned. I already know where she’s positioned because I felt her turning in me and I can feel where her heartbeat is exactly when I feel my belly. I still have no additional stretch marks other than the 2 itsy bitsy teeny tiny ones right above my belly button, which would not even be there if I had waited to get it pierced! But I’m very fortunate to only have those and I’m not going to look negatively at them because I think they are the cutest little marks that represent Natalia’s kisses on my body. This is the joy of being young and pregnant! My advice to any woman as far as stretch marks is to drink lemonade or incorporate lemon in your diet in some way, shape or form. Lemon is proven to have many beneficiary factors including skin elasticity and you can look it up if you don’t believe me. I also advise that you moisturize EVERY SINGLE DAY before bed. I’ not going to lie, there were a few times when I forgot to moisturize, but for the most part I did a damn good job at making sure my belly stayed lotioned up! Now, every woman is different and this might not work for everybody, but it worked for me and let me just note that I am very fair-skinned which makes me more prone to stretch marks. But I am very proud of the way my body handled this pregnancy in every way so far.

Over all, I am an extremely happy mommy-to-be and I find myself thinking about Natalia being here in my arms more and more each day. I am enjoying my pregnancy and having all the free time in the world to do whatever I want. I’m spending most of my time preparing and making things for baby girl. I don’t have any crazy dreams, or crazy emotional spasms like most pregnant women complain about, I sleep fairly good except for getting up to pee in the middle of the night (I also can’t wait to be able to sleep on my stomach again). I can still bend over to paint my toenails, although not for very long. I’m enjoying reading and learning about the things that I can do and make that are all-natural and safe to use on my baby for when she gets here. Best of all, I am very fortunate and appreciative not to have to work while pregnant and still have income to get the things that I need to get done, especially being a single mom. I am patiently awaiting the day when I can hold my precious little girl in my arms, look at her in her (hopefully blue) eyes and tell her how much mommy loves her. ❤

A Work In Progress

As I have mentioned in several of my other posts, I’m reading this AMAZING book that teaches you how to manifest your desires. It inspired me to make this “Creation Box” project that it talks about and so I felt like blogging about my progress! I got paid a couple days ago and went out to the store to buy some supplies that I would need to make the box exactly how I imagined it. I want it to be a representation of everything I like, so I bought some animal print fabric, sparkly sheer fabric, hot pink ribbon, loose glitter, decorative bows, acrylic gems, rhinestones, buttons, glue, my favorite sharpie pens to write with, and there’s still a couple more items I want to purchase. As you can tell, I’m a total girly girl and I love all things pink and sparkly! I think I might be spending a little more money than I should on such a simple project, but I am totally okay with it because for one, I can afford it (fortunately with the help of my financial planner) and two, I want to go all out and put all my creativity into this box because I’m THAT excited about it. After a few minutes of brainstorming I created a mental picture of exactly how I want my box to look and wrote it all down in my notepad. I want the entire box to be covered in a plaid, quilt style with a mixture of different animal prints. Then I want to outline the edges with hot pink ribbon, add some rhinestones in the middle of each corner where a new pattern begins, and make a big pretty fabric bow to glue on top. I want to use my font skills to draw “Whatever is contained in this box – IS!” in really pretty letters covered in glitter. Then I want to decorate the inside too, so it looks pretty when I open the box. I want to decorate the underneath of the lid with pretty paper that says “Laura’s Creative Wish Box”. And on the very bottom I want it to say “It never ends”. I want to put this saying on the bottom because it’s “the end” of the box and as I have learned from Abraham’s teachings that I’m reading, it never ends. You never stop desiring new things, that’s how the world expands and that’s how we, as souls, evolve.

All my supplies (:

All my supplies (:

I also had this great idea to get some decorative stones that look sort of like diamonds, preferably pink, to put in my box. I want to do this to add some pizazz and also so I can tape my clippings to a toothpick and stick it in the stones so they stick straight up. I just think it would make the box look better, more organized, personal and creative. The only problem is, I can’t find them anywhere! Lake City, FL. is a very small town so there are not many options of stores for me to find these stones that I want so bad. I looked at every store, every craft section, looked it up all over google-couldn’t find them. I found some on google but they were WAY too expensive, and I’m just not going to pay more than $10 for some rocks…

Fortunately for me, I found them yesterday on Amazon.com (where they have EVERYTHING you can imagine). Not only did they have the EXACT color stones I was looking for, but they had a 2000 count for less than 6 bucks! I was so ecstatic about finally finding the rocks I was so desperately looking everywhere for, and then came to the conclusion that the Law of Attraction really does work! And since I’ve been feeling so good and positive about everything lately, it worked in less than 48 hours for me! I really could not believe how fast it came to me exactly what I wanted. I didn’t think about how I was going to get it or where or when, I just kept thinking to myself “I want these stones so bad. They will make my box PERFECT, just the way I want it. I’m going to find them somewhere. It will make me so happy to buy the very thing that will complete the perfection of my box.” Sure enough, I found the exact ones I was looking for. So I ordered 2 of them for almost $11.00, free shipping! Anddddddd, they will be delivered to my house in a week, which is great because everything else I have been ordering on Amazon has been taking almost a month to be delivered due to the fact that they are being shipped from out of the country. I love that I can make things happen for myself just like that. I’m going to use the same way I attracted these rocks to my life, to attract even bigger things, such as a car, into my experience and see how quick that happens for me. I’m thrilled to have found ways to make my life exactly how I want it to be and I will be applying this in every aspect of it. I think it would be in everybody’s best interest to try this Law of Attraction way of thinking to improve their life. But start with small things, because that will give you the confidence to know that it works and then attract bigger things into your life, like I did with the decorative rocks. I am still in progress of making this box, but as soon as I’m done, there will be plenty of pictures to show you guys how cute it turned out!

First Time Attempting Nail Art

Okay, I keep talking about how I want to start making videos of my make-up and nail art and I haven’t really gotten around to it because I’ve been lazy about it. BUT, Tonight I finally painted my toes and attempted my very first nail art. I think it turned out really good for a beginner. I watch videos all the time of girls painting different designs on their nails and toes and it inspired me to do it! I’m telling you, after I was done I felt like I just left the salon-which is the feeling I was hoping for. I looked up some nail art ideas on google, typically, and found a design that I thought was easy and cute at the same time. I didn’t copy the exact same style, but I did copy the design (I used different colors and a different nail pattern). I ordered some nail art tools on Amazon.com a couple of weeks ago and only 2 out of 6 arrived, one of them being a dotting tool. So that’s what I used for this design. I also used Sally Hansen’s Base & Top Coat Clear Polish, Sally Hansen’s Mighty Mango, Ruby Kisses French White, and Pure Ice Wild Thing Green.

Please excuse the side smudges, I was overly excited about taking the picture before I could perfect them!
